THE DEAD EYES First off. The Na'vi. Tribal. Nature loving. Stealthy. Blue. They pretty much share a bunch in common with the Warcraftian Night Elf. The big eyes. The pointy ears. It's all there. And if the Night Elf isn't "alien" enough for you, Warcraft introduced a new race back in the Burning Crusade expansion called the Draenei. These guys were exiled blue aliens, who actually were larger in stature than Night Elves and Humans. So if you mix the Night Elf and the Draenei in your mind's Cuisinart, you can easily come up with a typical Na'vi extra. You can even pick one of these races and try to make your in-game character look like Jake, Neytiri, Queequeg, Bing Bong or whoever. Draenei work really well if you can get over their hooves. And the male's face tentacles. And their inherent cheapness or propensity for room-clearing flatulence. Plus, they've got the dead, emotionless eyes thing covered. THE HARSH, UNFORGIVING NIGHTMARE WORLD OF SUCK The continents of Azeroth (Kalimdor and The Eastern Kingdoms) actually have a lot of worlds that can simulate Pandora. A lot of the Night Elf mission turf is very forrest-y and the wicked harsh green acres of Feralas are downright jungle-like. The large Elven region of Ashenvale has a more livable quality to it, and if you're in the mood to roam around a diseased version of that place then you can head North to the rancid land of Felwood, where you can pretend that the evil, militarized white-man has spread rot and plague all over your precious natural wonderland. Outland, the orbiting extra-dimensional galactic remnants of Draenor, was introduced along with the Draenei a couple of years ago. There a lot of people out there that swear that Pandora holds a very strong resemblance to the Outland region of Nagrand. Now Nagrand has more of a majestic, grassy plains feel to it, but one of the things that's prevalent there are the giant floating rocks. Much like Avatar's Hallelujah Mountains, Nagrand has floating platforms of broken planet swirling about. These types of suspended rock can be found along the edges of Outland in general, but it's Nagrand that really uses them within the game space. While the capturable center village of Halaa actually has a few of these floating platforms above it, it's The Twilight Ridge at the far west of Nagrand that really makes you feel like your soaring through the hazardous, non-computer navigatable suspended mounds of Avatar. You can fly around them screaming, "OEL NGATI KAMEIE!" Provided that you've made enough Azerothian cheddar to afford a flying mount. If not, then you'll have to just look up to the heavens, drool and dream. And if you're looking to dive off a waterfall-sprayed cliff side to escape a charging Hammerhead Titanothere, then you'll have to level up like a mothereffer and head to the Wrath of the Litch King expansion continent of Northrend. It's not all ice and death. Oh, no. There's a zone there called Shalozar Basin that's… well, it's pretty much vines and death. But there are some grandiose, picturesque waterfalls there in a place called River's Heart. Yeah. Go jump off those things. Hammerfaced Tryptophanes not included. What else does Avatar have in common with Warcraft? Click here to find out. |

I don't know much about WoW but I agree there's nothing original in Avatar. It looks good but it's all borrowed, copied or stolen. And so is the story.
